Our Assessment: The Remington Model 141 was introduced in 1935 as an updated version of the Model 14 slide-action rifle, but the earliest rifles occupy an especially interesting transitional period. During roughly mid-1935 through early 1936, Remington assembled low-numbered Model 141 receivers using remaining Model 14 barrels and components, with these transitional arms generally falling below approximately serial number 4000. The .25 Remington is particularly noteworthy because it was dropped from regular Model 141 rifle production, although an early Remington brochure did advertise the Model 141R Carbine in .25 Remington before the chambering disappeared from later literature. Serial number 2274 falls directly within this early transition range. This rifle combines that low-numbered Model 141 receiver with an 18.5″ Model 14-R .25 Remington carbine barrel.

This rifle retains about 70% of its refinished metal finish, with edge wear, a few minor scratches, and blemishes from the refinishing process. The refinished checkered wood furniture remains in Very Good condition with only minor scratches and dings, no chips or cracks, and light handling wear to the checkered metal buttplate. The bore is mostly bright with sharp rifling and stubborn fouling, with no erosion, rating 9/10. The action functions correctly, the screw heads show light tooling but retain turnable slots, and the markings remain clear and complete. Overall, this unusual Remington Model 141/14-R hybrid rates in Very Good condition as a C&R rifle and is particularly interesting because its serial number and .25 Remington carbine barrel place it squarely within the historical Model 14-to-141 transition period.
