Our Assessment: This Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon 1 is a classic Italian over-under shotgun built on Beretta’s well-established 686 action, offering the durability and straightforward handling that have made the series popular with both field and sporting shooters. This 1997 example is chambered in 12 gauge with 3-inch chambers and 26.5-inch barrels fitted with Beretta Mobilchokes, allowing the shooter to select the appropriate choke for different types of shooting. The shorter barrels give the shotgun a particularly handy feel, while the interchangeable choke system adds versatility without changing the gun’s basic configuration.
The high-gloss finished checkered walnut furniture gives this Silver Pigeon 1 a particularly attractive presentation, with the checkering providing a secure purchase while the polished wood highlights the traditional sporting character of the gun. The combination of compact 26.5-inch barrels, 3-inch capability, interchangeable chokes, and finely finished walnut makes this a versatile 686 that works equally well as a field gun or a general-purpose sporting shotgun.
