Our Assessment: The Ruger No. 1-V Varminter is the heavy-barreled precision variant of Ruger’s classic falling-block single-shot rifle, combining the strength and simplicity of the No. 1 action with a broad beavertail forend and heavy barrel intended for deliberate varmint and target shooting. Chambered in .22-250 Remington, this 1977 example takes advantage of the cartridge’s high velocity, flat trajectory, and excellent reputation for long-range varmint work. The mounted Cabela’s Euro 3-9×42 scope further complements the rifle’s precision-oriented configuration.
This rifle is in Very Good to Fine condition overall, retaining about 98% of its original blue finish with light wear on the lever, minor operational marks on the falling block, and a few superficial imperfections throughout the metal surfaces. The checkered walnut stocks also rate in Very Good to Fine condition with scattered light scratches, dings, and compressions, attractive grain, and no chips or cracks. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 10/10, while the falling-block action and safety function correctly. The included Cabela’s Euro 3-9×42 scope has clear glass and remains in Excellent condition. Please see our photos for a better understanding of the condition and good luck with your bids! – J.D.
