Our Assessment: The IMI Galil Model 372 is an early commercial semi-automatic version of the Israeli Galil ARM imported by Magnum Research before Action Arms became the better-known U.S. Galil importer. Derived from Israel’s military Galil system, the rifle combines a long-stroke gas piston and rotating bolt with the rugged receiver architecture developed from the Finnish Valmet and ultimately the Kalashnikov operating system. The Model 372 represents the full 5.56mm ARM configuration, distinguished by its folding bipod, carry handle, substantial ribbed wooden handguard, folding tubular stock, and 18″ barrel. Serial MR02644 falls within the known early Magnum Research Model 372 range, making this a desirable example from the first period of commercial Galil importation into the United States. This rifle remains in Very Good Plus condition, retaining approximately 97% of its original black enamel and parkerized finish. The exterior shows light handling wear and scattered scratches, while the action exhibits minimal operational wear with heavy protective grease still present throughout. The markings remain clear, the screw heads are sharp, and the pins are undamaged. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no visible erosion, though faint stubborn fouling and substantial grease remain present, rating 9/10 in this writer’s opinion. The wooden handguard, polymer pistol grip, carry handle, bipod, and folding tubular stock show only light handling wear and remain in Very Good Plus condition. Mechanically, the action functions correctly.

For collectors of original Israeli military-pattern rifles, the Magnum Research Model 372 is particularly appealing because it combines early U.S. import history with the complete ARM feature set. The wood handguard, carry handle, folding bipod, 35-round magazines, folding stock, and early Magnum Research markings give these rifles a distinctly different character from later commercial Galils and modern reproductions. With its matching rear sight, strong bore, high remaining original finish, functional night-sight assemblies, and two correct-capacity magazines, this is a notably attractive example of an early IMI-made 5.56mm Galil ARM. -R.E.
