Our Assessment: This Heckler & Koch USP Compact was manufactured in 2004 and is chambered in .40 S&W, combining the dimensions of the USP Compact with HK’s well-known emphasis on durability and mechanical reliability. The USP Compact was developed as a more concealable counterpart to the full-size USP while retaining the same basic operating system and robust construction. This example features the traditional HK safety/de-cocker lever, allowing the shooter to safely de-cock the hammer or engage the manual safety depending on the lever’s position.
What makes this pistol particularly interesting is its rare Urban Gray frame, a distinctive finish that is seldom encountered on USP Compact pistols. The contrast between the Urban Gray frame and the pistol’s other components gives it a particularly distinctive appearance, while the .40 S&W chambering and traditional USP control configuration retain the practical character of the platform. As a 2004 example with the uncommon Urban Gray frame, this USP Compact is an especially interesting variant for HK collectors and enthusiasts.
