Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light handling wear, with a couple of very minor dings on the barrel, and one minor ding on the trigger guard. Otherwise, the bluing is deep, dark, and intact. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine to Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the scope base/rings as mentioned above.
Our Assessment: The Remington Model 700 BDL Custom Deluxe represents the more refined sporting side of the Model 700 line, combining the proven bolt-action platform with polished blue metalwork, a hinged floorplate, and high-gloss walnut furniture with skip-line checkering and contrasting trim. Chambered in .17 Remington with a 24″ barrel, this rifle is particularly well suited for varmint and predator hunting, where the cartridge’s high velocity, flat trajectory, and light recoil are advantageous.
This rifle is in Fine to Excellent condition overall, retaining about 98% of its original blue finish with only a couple of very minor dings on the barrel and one minor ding on the trigger guard. The gloss-finished walnut stock also remains in Fine to Excellent condition with attractive grain, well-defined skip-line checkering, a few minor compressions and scratches, and no chips or cracks. The rear sight has been removed, though the mounting holes have been filled with appropriate screws. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 10/10, while the action and safety function correctly. It includes a two-piece scope base and 1″ rings.
