Our Assessment: The Remington Model 870 has been one of America’s most successful pump-action shotguns since its introduction in 1950, earning a reputation for durability and smooth operation across hunting, sporting, law-enforcement, and defensive roles. Remington introduced the lower-priced Express line in 1987, and in 1992 expanded it to include a .410 Bore version, making this example an early representative of the small-bore 870 Express. The .410 combines light recoil with a relatively small shot payload and has long been popular for small-game hunting, pest control, and recreational shooting. This example, serial number A412080H, is chambered for 3″ .410 shells and has a 25″ ventilated-rib barrel with fixed Full choke.

This shotgun retains about 97% of its original matte blue finish, with only light surface scratches, faint operational wear on the magazine tube, and minimal additional action wear. The checkered wood furniture remains in Very Good Plus condition with only a few minor pressure dings and no chips or cracks. The checkered synthetic buttplate shows only faint handling wear. The bore is bright with light streaking and no erosion, rating 9.5/10. The markings remain clear and complete, and the action functions correctly. Overall, this Remington 870 Express rates in Very Good Plus condition. Please see our photos for a better understanding of the condition and good luck with your bids!
