Our Assessment: The Ruger Mini-14 is a compact gas-operated semi-automatic rifle inspired by the general layout of the M14, scaled for the .223 Remington cartridge. This 1989 stainless example has been customized with a folding stock assembly featuring a checkered pistol grip and hardwood forend, giving it a more compact and utilitarian configuration than the standard factory rifle. The 18 1/2″ barrel, adjustable aperture rear sight, and detachable magazine system make it well suited for recreational shooting, field use, and general-purpose carbine applications.

This rifle is in Good to Very Good condition overall, retaining about 95% of the metal finish present on the current build with scattered light scratches, dings, and superficial imperfections, along with light operational wear on the bolt. The folding stock assembly also rates in Good to Very Good condition, showing light corrosion on the buttstock and scattered compressions on the hardwood forend, but no chips or cracks. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 10/10, while the action and safety function correctly. It includes one Good-condition 30-round stainless aftermarket magazine showing light corrosion.
