Markings: The left side of the chamber is marked “270 Win”. The left side of the receiver is marked “24B13-00219”, “Forbes Rifle”, “Model 24B / Westbrook, Me.”.

Sights/Optics: The top of the receiver is installed with Swarovski Z5 3.5-18x44P Rifle Scope with 4W Reticle. The sight picture is clear. The scope rates in Excellent condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is textured gray composite with a pistol grip, straight comb, cheekpiece, and a black rubber Decelerator buttpad. There is a sling stud in the belly of the buttstock. The bottom of the forend has a Spartan Precision Equipment Javelin Super Lite Bipod mount. Comes with Bipod. There is little to no handling wear. The LOP measures 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The pad has light handling wear. The stock rates in Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains 99% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish is strong and complete throughout. There is little to no operational or handling wear. There are a couple minor rub marks under the barrel. The markings are clear. The screw heads are sharp. The rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The rifle weighs 6 lb 13 oz with the scope installed. The trigger is light and crisp. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with its Javelin Bipod as mentioned above, Javelin Monopod & adapter, and Swarovski Scope box with scope cover.
Our Assessment: Melvin Forbes established his reputation with the exceptionally light Ultra Light Arms and New Ultra Light Arms rifles, designs built around purpose-made actions, hand-laid composite stocks, full-contact bedding, and careful weight reduction without sacrificing practical hunting accuracy. Forbes Rifle LLC was formed with Titan Machine Products in Westbrook, Maine, to bring those concepts into a more affordable production rifle, with Titan producing the metalwork and Forbes supplying the Kevlar/carbon-fiber stock design. The Model 24B was the standard-length offering for cartridges based on the .30-06 case, including .270 Winchester, and its “24” designation followed Forbes’ practice of identifying actions by their approximate weight in ounces. Period reviews consistently regarded the 24B as a production counterpart to Forbes’ much more expensive NULA rifles.
This example is a particularly well-equipped Model 24B, chambered in .270 Winchester with the desirable 24″ barrel and retaining about 99% of its original matte finish. The metal and composite stock show very little use, the bore is excellent, and the action functions correctly with a light, crisp trigger. Its Swarovski Z5 3.5-18x44P scope substantially upgrades an already serious lightweight hunting rifle, while the included Javelin bipod, monopod, adapters, and scope accessories make the package especially complete. At 6 lb. 13 oz. with the scope installed, it preserves the Model 24B’s principal virtue – a remarkably portable sporting rifle with the design pedigree of Melvin Forbes’ celebrated ultralight rifles.
