Sights / Optics: There is no provision for iron sights. The barrel and receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope. There is a Leupold Vari XII 6-18x with Duplex reticle installed on this rifle in Leupold mounts. We cannot guarantee optics. 

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is two piece checkered walnut, schnabel forend, straight grip, straight comb, and rubber recoil pad. The LOP is 13 1/4″ from trigger to recoil pad. There is light handling wear. There are a couple notable dings on the left side of the forend. There are no chips or cracks. Overall this stock is in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. In this writer’s opinion this bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its original finish. There is light handling and operational wear. There are some light scratches scattered throughout. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall this rifle is in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 1885 High Wall is a modern Miroku-built interpretation of John M. Browning’s classic falling-block rifle, combining traditional single-shot styling with the strength required for contemporary high-pressure cartridges. This 2005 example is chambered in .325 WSM and features a 28″ octagon barrel, checkered walnut furniture, Schnabel forend, straight grip, and rubber recoil pad. A Leupold Vari-X II 6-18x scope with duplex reticle in Leupold mounts completes a configuration well suited for deliberate long-range hunting and target shooting.

Originally introduced in the late 19th century, the Model 1885 earned a reputation as one of the strongest and most accurate American single-shot actions. Modern Miroku production preserves the rifle’s traditional external-hammer and falling-block operation while adapting it to powerful modern hunting cartridges. The .325 WSM combines substantial big-game performance with a compact magnum case, making this High Wall an unusual blend of classic rifle architecture and modern ballistic capability.
