Our Assessment: This Izhevsk Mosin-Nagant is a 1928-dated 7.62x54R rifle in M91/30 sniper configuration, fitted with a PU-style scope marked 91/30 / N4-431621. The PU sniper system is a WWII-era configuration, with M91/30 PU sniper production associated with the Model 1942 sniper rifle program, so this rifle should be presented conservatively as a sniper-configured rifle unless original PU sniper features are verified.
This rifle is in Very Good condition overall, retaining about 98% of its arsenal-refurbished blued metal finish with light handling and storage wear, light operational wear, scratches, light thinning, light buttplate thinning, and scattered light nicks. The two-piece wood stock rates in Fine condition, showing scratches, compression marks, and furniture finish loss, but no chips or cracks. The bore is mostly bright with sharp rifling, no erosion, and light fouling, rating 8 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The action functions correctly, the scope picture is clear, and the PU scope rates in about Very Good condition. This rifle comes with the mounted scope and canvas sling.
