The stock shows light handling wear, with only a couple of very minor compression marks throughout, most notably on the bottom of the forend. The grip cap shows light flaking of the finish. The stock’s finish is intact, otherwise, and the stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the scope as mentioned above.

Our Assessment: The Ruger M77 Mark II is a classic American bolt-action sporting rifle known for its controlled round feed action, integral scope mounting system, reliable construction, and traditional hunting rifle design. The LRBBZ configuration combines a stainless barreled action with a gray laminate stock, offering increased weather resistance and a distinctive appearance while maintaining the practical handling characteristics expected of a dedicated hunting rifle. Chambered in .30-06 Springfield, this example provides a versatile and proven cartridge suitable for a wide range of North American big-game applications.

Manufactured in 1997, this rifle remains in Fine to Excellent condition, retaining approximately 99% of its original stainless finish. The gray laminate stock is particularly well preserved, showing only minor handling wear and compression marks with no chips or cracks. The bore is excellent, remaining bright with sharp rifling and no erosion. The included Simmons Pro 50 2.5-10×50 scope provides a useful hunting magnification range and remains in Fine condition with clear glass. With its stainless construction, attractive laminate furniture, excellent bore, and practical .30-06 chambering, this M77 Mark II is a well-equipped hunting rifle with strong appeal for both field use and Ruger collectors. – J.D.
