Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “270 / WSM”. The right side of the barrel is marked “LRI”. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number and “Remington / MODEL SEVEN”.

Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver is mounted with a two-piece Leupold style scope base for optics.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece H-S Precision composite stock, with a semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb, black rubber H-S Precision buttpad, and sling studs front and rear. The LOP measures 13 1/2″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock shows light handling wear, with only a couple of minor dings throughout. The stock’s finish is intact. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. The barrel is free-floating, and the action has been bedded. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Very Good to Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 96% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear, with a few minor dings on the barrel and bottom metal, and some light operational wear on the bolt. Otherwise, the finish is intact. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are tooled, but retain strong and serviceable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good to Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. The trigger has a crisp and clean break, and breaks consistently around 2 lbs 9 oz. . We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with a receipt from LongRifles, Inc. listing the work that has been put into this rifle. A few notable things that this rifle has had done include, fluting the bolt and skeletonizing the bolt handle, custom barrel, M16 extractor with dual ejectors, M700 recoil lug, scope base holes enlarged to 8-40, accurized M7 action with tang screw upgrade, and a few other items.
Our Assessment: Remington’s Model Seven was developed as a compact, lighter-weight companion to the Model 700, and this example has been substantially upgraded by LongRifles Inc. into a refined custom hunting rifle. It is chambered in .270 WSM, a short-magnum cartridge known for flat trajectory, strong velocity, and effective medium to large game performance in a compact action length. This rifle features a 22″ aftermarket LRI light contour barrel, matte black finish, H-S Precision composite stock, free-floating barrel, bedded action, two-piece Leupold-style scope base, and a crisp trigger breaking around 2 lbs. 9 oz. The included LRI paperwork documents notable custom work including bolt fluting, skeletonized bolt handle, custom barrel, M16 extractor with dual ejectors, M700 recoil lug, enlarged 8-40 scope base holes, accurized Model Seven action, and tang screw upgrade. The LRI build quality, compact Model Seven footprint, H-S Precision stock, and powerful .270 WSM chambering should appeal to hunters looking for a lightweight custom rifle with serious field capability.
