Sights / Optics: The front sight is an open center circular post with a Globe style hood fixed to a barrel mounted base. The rear sight is a fully adjustable peep mounted to the receiver.
Stock Configuration & Condition: This rifle has a two-piece checkered laminate wood stock with a barrel band, semi-pistol grip, straight comb, sling loop, and serrated steel buttplate. There are light scratches, pressure dents, and small chips throughout. There are faint cracks forming along the laminated grain throughout. The LOP measures 13.75” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. Overall the stock rates about Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is faint erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, this bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 92% of its metal finish. There is light thinning along with minor scratches, nicks, and faint spots of patina throughout. The action has light wear. The screw heads range from sharp to moderately tooled. The markings are mostly clear with some being blurry and worn. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good + condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Norwegian M1894 Lang-Krag represents one of the most refined military applications of the Krag-Jørgensen action, a design noted for its exceptionally smooth bolt travel and distinctive side-loading magazine. Adopted by Norway in 1894, the rifle was chambered for the accurate and mild-recoiling 6.5x55mm cartridge and produced domestically at Kongsberg Arsenal. This example was manufactured in 1902 and was later reworked into a specialized target rifle with a heavy 29.5-inch barrel, globe-style front sight, receiver-mounted aperture sight, and checkered laminated stock. The resulting configuration reflects Norway’s longstanding civilian and military marksmanship tradition, in which service rifles were adapted for precision competition after their original military careers. This rifle remains in Very Good Plus condition, retaining approximately 92% of its arsenal-rework metal finish. The blued surfaces exhibit light thinning, minor scratches, small nicks, and faint spots of patina, while the action shows only light operational wear. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and only faint erosion, rating 9/10 in this writer’s opinion. The bolt components remain matched to the receiver. Its checkered laminated stock shows light scratches, pressure dents, and small chips, along with faint cracks developing along portions of the laminated grain. The wood remains attractive overall and retains the specialized semi-pistol-grip target configuration, serrated steel buttplate, and original leather sling.
Norwegian target-converted Krag rifles occupy a distinctive place among Scandinavian military and competition arms. They combine the historic smoothness and mechanical character of the Krag-Jørgensen action with the heavy barrels, aperture sights, and specialized stocks favored by serious target shooters. This 1902 Kongsberg example retains a strong bore, matching bolt components, substantial finish, and a complete arsenal target configuration.
