Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “CAL 308 Win. MADE IN FINLAND”, along with a proof mark. The right side of the barrel is marked with Beretta’s 2-line warning & address. The left side of the receiver is marked “SAKO 85 S”, along with the serial number and a proof mark.

Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver is mounted with a Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10×50 scope, with a duplex reticle. The glass in the scope is clear. The scope shows no notable wear. Overall, the scope rates in Excellent condition. The scope is mounted directly to the receiver’s dovetail by 1″ Leupold rings.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered walnut stock, with a capped semi-pistol grip with right-handed palm swell, fluted straight comb with shadow-line cheekpiece, red rubber buttpad, a tipped forend, and sling rings front and rear. There is a sling attached to the stock. The LOP measures 13 3/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock shows light handling wear, with a few light dings and minor compressions scattered throughout. The checkering is mostly well defined, with a couple of the minor dings landing in the checkering on the wrist. The stock’s finish is intact, and the wood grain is attractive. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. The barrel is free-floating all the way to the action. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Fine to Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is some light fouling present. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.75/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows a few very small spots of light finish on the bolt handle/knob. Otherwise, the bluing is deep, dark, and intact. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine to Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

This rifle features a 22″ barrel, blued finish, checkered walnut stock with right-hand palm swell and shadow-line cheekpiece, free-floating barrel, sling, and a Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10×50 scope with clear glass mounted in Leupold rings. The walnut stock rates in Fine to Excellent condition, showing light handling wear with a few small dings and compressions, including a couple in the wrist checkering, while retaining attractive grain, intact finish, tight fit, free-floating barrel, and no chips or cracks. The metal shows only a few very small spots of light finish wear on the bolt handle/knob, while the bluing remains deep, dark, and intact overall. The Zeiss scope rates in Excellent condition, the markings are clear and legible, the screw heads are sharp, and the action and safety function correctly.
