Our Assessment: The Colt Kodiak was introduced in 1993 as a limited-production big-bore revolver built on Colt’s large-frame Anaconda lineage. Chambered in .44 Magnum, the Kodiak was aimed at shooters who wanted a powerful stainless revolver suitable for hunting, field carry, and backcountry defense, while still retaining the premium fit and distinctive Colt styling associated with the company’s double action revolvers. The model is especially recognizable for its ported vent-rib barrel, full underlug, polished stainless finish, bear paw barrel marking, Pachmayr rubber stocks with Colt medallions, and limited-production status. Reported as one of approximately 2,000 produced, the Kodiak occupies an interesting place among Colt’s modern revolvers, sitting alongside other collectible Snake Gun-era and Anaconda-family variants while offering additional scarcity and visual distinction.

This Colt Kodiak is a limited-edition .44 Magnum single and double action revolver with a 6” ported vent-rib full-underlug barrel, polished stainless finish, adjustable white-outline rear sight, orange-insert ramp front sight, wide spur hammer, serrated trigger, and checkered Pachmayr rubber grips with inset Colt medallions. The revolver’s polished stainless surfaces remain visually strong with light scratches, scuffs, and handling marks throughout, along with a crisp cylinder turn line, bright spots at the front and rear of the cylinder, and light action wear. The grips rate in Fine condition with scattered scratches and scuffs along the smooth borders, sharp checkering, and no rips or missing chunks. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 9.5 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The action functions correctly, and the lockup is solid with light play when the trigger is depressed. This revolver should appeal strongly to Colt collectors, Kodiak and Anaconda enthusiasts, .44 Magnum revolver shooters, and buyers looking for a scarce 1993 limited-production Colt with its box and paperwork.
