Markings: The tang is marked “B7342”.The top of the barrel is marked “Shiloh-Sharps Model 1874” and “CALIBRE 45 / 21/10”. The left side of the receiver is marked “SHILOH RIFLE MFG. CO. BIG TIMBER, MONTANA.”.
Barrel Length: 34” Heavy Octagon Barrel. The rifle weighs 11 lbs 5 OZ.
Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a Globe front sight with a circle insert and spirit level dovetailed to the barrel. The tang is drilled and tapped for a tang sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is a two piece smooth walnut with Schnabel tipped forend and semi-pistol grip stock with checkered curved lower tang, straight comb with cheek piece, and has a black plastic checkered butt plate. The LOP measures 14.25?. The wood shows some scratches, nicks, rub marks and compressions scattered throughout. The comb shows a small chip most likely from a previously installed tang sight. There are no cracks. The butt plate shows rub marks around the edges. Overall the Furniture rates in Good overall condition.
Type of Finish: The barrel is blued and the receiver, lever, tang and hammer are case colored.
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion/pitting. The edges of the grooves show some very minor lead fouling. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The edges of the octagon barrel show some finish thinning. The barrel shows some minor lines scattered throughout and a notable scratch about mid length on the left lower side. The lower tang shows a small rub mark from the lever. The screws are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: This rifle has double set triggers, which function correctly. The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
