Our Assessment: The Ruger Redhawk is one of Ruger’s strongest and most respected double-action revolvers, built for serious magnum use and long service life. Chambered in .41 Magnum, this 1985-production example offers a less common and highly regarded chambering that sits between the .357 Magnum and .44 Magnum, providing excellent power, accuracy, and field performance with a devoted following among handgun hunters and revolver enthusiasts. With its blued finish, 5.5-inch barrel, adjustable sights, 6-shot cylinder, and classic smooth wood Ruger grips, this Redhawk has the look and handling of a serious working magnum revolver from Ruger’s golden era of double-action production. This revolver remains in Very Good to Excellent condition, retaining approximately 99% of its original blued finish. The cylinder face shows burn marks and the cylinder has a thin, crisp turn line, while the topstrap shows light handling marks. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, no erosion, some light factory chatter marks, and stubborn fouling, rating 9.5/10. The two-piece smooth wood grips with silver Ruger medallions remain in Excellent condition with no notable wear, chips, or cracks. The screw heads are sharp, the markings are clear, and the action functions correctly. The revolver includes its original Ruger cardboard shipping box, original box, and paperwork.
For Ruger collectors, handgun hunters, and fans of classic magnum revolvers, this blued .41 Magnum Redhawk is a desirable find. The .41 Magnum chambering is far less common than .44 Magnum and has long been appreciated by shooters who value its balance of power, shootability, and accuracy. High-condition boxed Redhawks from this period continue to attract collector interest, and this example’s strong original finish, excellent bore, original boxes, and paperwork make it a standout revolver for collection, field use, or range enjoyment. -R.E.
