Action Type: Over Under Top Break Shotgun with Single selective inertial Trigger & Ejectors. The safety does not automatically re-set. The barrel selector is built into the trigger.
Barrel Length: 26″
Choke: Threaded for Weatherby IMC choke pattern chokes currently installed with Modified over Improved Cylinder also includes one Skeet choke. Three total chokes.
Sights: The front sight is a small brass bead affixed to the front of the rib. The top of the rib has been finely checkered for reducing glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set on this shotgun is a checkered walnut set with a round profile forend and a Prince of Wales grip stock with a fluted comb and rubber butt pad. The length of pull is 14.25″, the drop at comb is 1.25 inch and drop at heel is 2”. The shotgun weighs 6lbs 10OZ. The stock has a slight right handed cast. The wood shows very minor handling. The grip shows some residue from what appears to be glue. There are no chips or cracks. The butt pad is still soft and pliable. Overall the furniture set is in about Very Good condition but would rate much higher if not for the glue.
Type of Finish: Blued and coin with gold inlays and gold toned trigger.
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The smooth bores are mirror bright and show no erosion or pitting. Both bores show only barely visible lines. In this writer’s opinion the bores rate 10/10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. The barrels show some rub wear from the forend that is concealed when assembled and some barely visible handling. The breech face shows almost no wear. The markings are clear. Overall this shotgun is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The barrel to receiver fit shows no play or movement. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Weatherby Athena Grade 3 Classic Field was manufactured by SKB of Japan for Weatherby and represents a refined upland sporting shotgun produced between 1999 and 2007. Chambered in 20 gauge with 3-inch chambers, it features 26-inch barrels threaded for interchangeable Weatherby IMC choke tubes, offering excellent versatility for upland hunting and sporting use. A coin-finished receiver showcases detailed gold inlay game scenes depicting pheasants, grouse, and two pointing dogs, while the gold-toned trigger incorporates a built-in selector, allowing the shooter to choose barrel firing order without disrupting the clean, traditional lines of the action.
