Our Assessment: This Remington Model 760 Gamemaster is a clean pump-action sporting rifle manufactured in 1980 and chambered in .270 Winchester. The 760 has long been valued as a fast-handling hunting rifle, offering pump-action speed with a removable magazine and traditional rifle chamberings. This example retains a classic hunting configuration, including a 22″ barrel, factory beaded front sight, adjustable rear sight, drilled-and-tapped receiver for scope mounting, and cross-bolt safety at the rear of the trigger guard. The .270 Winchester chambering adds broad practical appeal as a flat-shooting, versatile hunting cartridge suitable for deer-sized game and similar applications.

Condition is a major strength of this rifle. It retains about 97% of its original blued metal finish, with only light box and storage wear and scattered light corrosion freckles. The screw heads remain sharp, and the markings are clear, indicating careful handling and limited use. The press-checkered walnut stock set is also in Excellent condition, with a capped forend, capped semi-pistol grip, straight comb, and checkered Remington plastic buttplate. The wood shows only minor box and storage wear, with no chips or cracks, giving the rifle a very clean and well-preserved presentation.

Mechanically, the action is described as functioning correctly, and the bore is outstanding, rated 10/10 with a bright interior, sharp rifling, and no erosion. The rifle appears not to have been fired outside the factory, which is a significant positive for both collector and shooter interest. The included box, extra magazine, and manual further enhance its desirability and completeness. As with any used firearm, it should be cleaned and inspected before firing, but overall this Remington 760 Gamemaster presents as an excellent-condition 1980 production rifle with strong originality, superb bore condition, desirable accessories, and practical hunting utility.
