Our Assessment: The Remington Model 725 is a scarce, short-lived bolt-action sporting rifle produced from 1958 to 1961, with total production of approximately 16,635 rifles across several chamberings, including .244 Remington. It was an upscale evolution of Remington’s 721/722 action family, featuring a Monte Carlo stock, hinged floorplate, and three-position safety. This 1959 C&R-eligible example is chambered in the desirable .244 Remington, noted in your listing as one of only 840 produced according to John F. Lacy’s reference, making it a particularly interesting variant for Remington collectors. It is configured with a 22” barrel, factory iron sights, drilled and tapped receiver, blued finish, and a one-piece checkered Monte Carlo stock with fluted comb, capped semi-pistol grip, and checkered steel buttplate.

This Model 725 is in Fine condition overall, retaining about 98% of its blued metal finish with light handling wear, a few light scratches, and light action wear. The wood stock also rates in Fine condition, showing light scratches and compression marks throughout, but no chips or cracks, and the checkering remains sharp. The bore is bright and shiny with sharp rifling, no erosion, and light fouling, rating 9 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The action functions correctly, the markings are sharp, and the rifle presents as a clean and collectible example of Remington’s limited-production Model 725 line. This rifle should appeal to Remington collectors, vintage sporting rifle enthusiasts, and hunters looking for a handsome C&R bolt-action in the uncommon .244 Remington chambering.
