Sights / Optics: There are white beads at mid-barrel and at the front of the rib. The top of the rib has a wavy serration pattern for glare reduction.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are a one piece checkered wood with straight comb, straight grip, checkered forend, and red vented rubber buttpad. There are scratches and compression marks throughout. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14″ and 13” from the front of the triggers respectively to the rear back of the buttpad. The stocks rate in about Fine overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original.
Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bores rate about 9 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light handling wear. There are light scratches and thinning throughout. There is thinning on the side of the barrels from the forend. There is light thinning on the muzzle. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Fine Condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The ejectors function correctly. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The G. Defourny-Sevrin Model 40 is a Belgian-made 10 gauge side-by-side shotgun imported by Continental Arms Corp., built as a serious magnum double for heavy field use. This example is dated circa 1951 by the Greek delta Belgian date code, which supports its C&R status if the mark is correctly identified. It is chambered for 3 1/2” 10 gauge shells and is configured with 32” barrels, dual white beads, a serrated rib, ejectors, engraved coin-finished and case colored receiver treatment, and checkered wood furniture with a red vented rubber buttpad. Belgian date-code references list Greek delta as corresponding to 1951.
This Model 40 is in Fine condition overall, retaining about 97% of its metal finish with light handling wear, scattered light scratches, thinning, forend wear along the sides of the barrels, and light muzzle thinning. The checkered wood stocks also rate in Fine condition, showing scratches and compression marks throughout, but no chips or cracks. The bores are bright with no erosion visible and rate about 9 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The action functions correctly, the ejectors function correctly, the markings are clear, and the screw heads are sharp. This shotgun should appeal to collectors of Belgian sporting doubles, Continental Arms imports, and buyers looking for a substantial 10 gauge side-by-side with 3 1/2” chambering, strong bores, and high remaining condition.
