Our Assessment: Remington’s Model Seven was developed as a lighter, handier sporting rifle based on the Model 700 family, offering familiar Remington bolt-action handling in a more compact hunting package. The CDL variant adds classic sporting-rifle styling with checkered walnut, a tipped forend, and traditional blued-steel presentation. This 2015 example is chambered in .260 Remington, an efficient 6.5mm cartridge known for mild recoil, good ballistic performance, and strong utility for deer-sized game, predators, and target shooting. This rifle features a 20″ light-contour barrel with 1:8″ twist, internal magazine with hinged floorplate, checkered walnut stock with cheekpiece, and a two-piece 1″ Talley base/ring set already installed for optics. The compact Model Seven action, classic CDL configuration, excellent bore, Talley rings, and desirable .260 Remington chambering should appeal to hunters looking for a refined, easy-carrying field rifle with practical ballistic performance.
