Our Assessment: This Browning 1885 Creedmoor BPCR is a high-quality Miroku-made single-shot falling block rifle manufactured for Browning in 1998 and chambered in .45-90 WCF. It is configured for black powder cartridge rifle competition and long-range target work, with a 34″ barrel, lever-operated falling block action, single trigger, and classic High Wall-style profile. The rifle retains a windage-adjustable globe front sight with spirit level, while the upper tang is drilled and tapped for a peep sight and the receiver ring is drilled and tapped for a scope base. The missing rear sight and removed tang plug screws are notable, but the rifle remains well configured for a shooter planning to install preferred BPCR target sights or optics.
Condition is very strong overall. The rifle retains about 97% of its original blued finish, with only light scratches and minor handling and operational wear. The screw heads are sharp, and the markings are clear, which supports the impression of a carefully maintained rifle. The checkered walnut stock set is also in Very Good condition, featuring a schnabel forend, capped semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb with cheekpiece, and checkered buttplate. There are light scratches and compression dents throughout, with the most notable mark on the left side of the buttstock, but there are no chips or cracks.
Mechanically, this rifle is described as functioning correctly, and the bore is a major strength, rating 9.5/10 with a bright interior, sharp rifling, and no erosion. The .45-90 WCF chambering is especially appealing for BPCR shooters who want greater case capacity than .45-70 while staying within the traditional black powder cartridge rifle format. As with any used firearm, it should be cleaned and inspected before firing, especially if being set up for serious target use. Overall, this Browning 1885 Creedmoor BPCR is a very desirable modern single-shot target rifle with excellent bore condition, strong remaining finish, quality Miroku manufacture, and attractive long-range configuration, with its main limitations being the removed rear sight, missing plug screws, and lack of box or accessories.
