Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The receiver is milled for proprietary Ruger scope rings.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered walnut stock, with a capped semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb, red rubber Ruger buttpad, a checkered forend, and sling studs front and rear. The LOP measures 13 3/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. There is light handling and box wear. There are no chips or cracks. Overall this stock is in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. This rifle does not appear to have been shot outside the factory. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The bluing shows light box wear. The receiver has turned lightly plum. There is minor corrosion staining on the bolt. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall this rifle is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the tang safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Ruger M77 is a clean early-style bolt-action hunting rifle manufactured in 1980 and chambered in the classic 7×57 Mauser cartridge. The 7×57 is a well-regarded sporting chambering with a long history as an efficient, moderate-recoil hunting round, making this rifle appealing to hunters and collectors who appreciate traditional cartridges. This example has the desirable classic M77 configuration, including a 22″ barrel, internal magazine with hinged floorplate, tang safety, milled Ruger integral scope-ring mounting system, and a checkered walnut stock with red Ruger recoil pad. The included box and 1″ Ruger scope rings further enhance its completeness and collector appeal.
Condition is excellent overall. The rifle retains about 98% of its original blued finish, with only light box wear, a lightly plum-toned receiver, and minor corrosion staining on the bolt. The screw heads remain sharp and the markings are clear, indicating careful storage and limited handling. The walnut stock is also in Excellent condition, with light handling and box wear only, and no chips or cracks. Its capped semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb, checkered forend, sling studs, and original-style red Ruger buttpad give it the classic appearance expected of a quality 1980s sporting rifle.
Mechanically, the rifle is described as functioning correctly, including the tang safety, and it passed a basic mechanics check. The bore is outstanding, rated 10/10, with a bright interior, sharp rifling, no erosion, and no indication of use outside factory firing. That condition, combined with the original box and scope rings, makes this a particularly attractive example for either a Ruger collector or a hunter seeking a high-condition traditional bolt-action rifle.
