Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a spring leaf semi buckhorn U notch with elevator dovetailed into the barrel. 

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is two piece checkered walnut, capped forend, straight grip, straight comb, and crescent brass buttplate. The LOP is 13 1/2″ from trigger to buttplate. There is light handling wear. There are some small scratches and a few small compression dents scattered throughout. There are a couple more notable scratches on the right side of the buttstock. There are no chips or cracks. Overall this stock is in Very Good condition.

Type of Finish:  Blued, Case Hardened.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. There is very minor fouling. In this writer’s opinion this bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is light handling wear. There are a few light scratches on the barrel. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall this rifle is in Very Good to Excellent condition. 

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Marlin Model 1894 Century Limited is a desirable 1994-production commemorative-style lever-action rifle chambered in .44-40 Winchester. The 24″ barrel, tubular magazine, checkered walnut stocks, capped forend, straight grip, straight comb, and crescent brass buttplate give it a classic late-19th-century sporting rifle profile. The blued and case-hardened finish combination, traditional beaded front sight, and semi-buckhorn rear sight further enhance its period-inspired appearance, making it appealing to Marlin collectors and lever-action enthusiasts alike.

Condition is Very Good to Excellent overall, with the rifle retaining about 98% of its original metal finish. The metal shows only light handling wear and a few light scratches on the barrel, while the screw heads remain sharp and the markings are clear. The checkered walnut stock set is in Very Good condition, showing light handling wear, small scratches, and minor compression dents throughout, with a couple of more notable scratches on the right side of the buttstock. There are no chips or cracks, and the wood remains solid, attractive, and well matched to the rifle’s commemorative character.

The bore is a major strength, remaining bright with sharp rifling, no erosion, and only very minor fouling, rating 9.5/10 in this writer’s opinion. Mechanically, the action functions correctly, though the rifle has not been test fired. As with any used firearm, a thorough cleaning and inspection are advisable before use. Overall, this is a clean and attractive Marlin 1894 Century Limited in the classic .44-40 Winchester chambering, offering excellent bore condition, strong remaining finish, traditional styling, and solid collector and shooter appeal.
