Our Assessment: The Browning Model 52 is a high-quality Japanese-made sporter inspired by Winchester’s legendary Model 52 rimfire rifle. These Browning-branded Model 52 rifles were made by Miroku in the 1990s as finely finished sporting versions of the classic .22 LR bolt-action design, with the 24” sporter barrel, detachable magazine feed, and elegant walnut-stocked configuration distinguishing them from the earlier heavy target rifles. This 1991 example is chambered in .22 Long Rifle and is equipped with a Burris 4.5-14x Fullfield II scope, one 5-round factory magazine, and factory serial-numbered box.
This Browning Model 52 is in Excellent condition overall, retaining about 98% of its original blued metal finish with little wear beyond a few light scratches and a faint spot of thinning on the barrel under the scope. The one-piece smooth wood stock rates in Fine condition, showing only light scratches and compression marks with no chips or cracks. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, no erosion, and rates 10 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion, with the rifle appearing unfired from the factory. The action functions correctly, the safety operates properly, and the markings are clear and legible. This rifle should appeal to Browning collectors, Winchester Model 52 enthusiasts, and rimfire shooters looking for a beautifully made .22 LR sporter with scope, magazine, and factory box.
