Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “HECKLER & KOCH GMBH / OBERNDORF/N MADE IN GERMANY” and “9mmx19”, the right is marked “16-128932 HK Inc., Sterling VA WARNING REFER TO OWNER’S MANUAL”. The right side of the frame is marked “16-128932 M8” and “KK”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a tritium lamp insert blade dovetailed to the slide. The rear sight is a square notch with two tritium lamp inserts dovetailed to the slide. Three dot night sight system. The tritium lamps have depleted.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece textured black polymer panels. The backstrap and the front of the grip safety also have texturing to improve the grip. The panels show minor handling with some discoloration from handling. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Very Good+-Excellent condition.
Magazine Quantity & Condition: This pistol includes two H&K P7M8 8rd 9mm magazines in Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: Nickel
Finish Originality: We believe this pistol to be refinished as we could not find evidence of H&K doing nickel finishes in 1999.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the polygonal rifling is well defined. There is no erosion. The feed ramp is smooth and shiny. The bore shows some stubborn fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. The slide face shows some verdigris in the edges. The finish shows some barely visible surface level lines. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This pistol features a gas-delayed blowback system. The pistol’s action is cocked by squeezing the fore strap of the grip frame, delivering a smooth, short trigger pull. The pistol has an ambidextrous magazine release located on the trigger guard. The slide to frame fit is tight. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Heckler & Koch P7M8, manufactured in 1999, is a highly sought-after 9mm pistol featuring a 4-inch barrel and the distinctive squeeze-cocking system that made the P7 series one of the most innovative handgun designs of the 20th century. The P7M8 utilizes a gas-delayed blowback operating system that contributes to its excellent accuracy, low bore axis, and remarkably soft recoil characteristics. This example feeds from a single-stack magazine and is fitted with the American-style ambidextrous magazine release located behind the trigger guard, a feature that distinguished the M8 variant from the earlier heel-release PSP models. The pistol is finished in nickel; however, we were unable to find evidence that Heckler & Koch offered factory nickel-finished P7M8 pistols in 1999, leading us to believe this example was refinished at some point during its life.
The pistol is equipped with Tru-Dot night sights, although the tritium inserts have depleted with age and no longer provide illumination in low-light conditions. Despite this, the sights remain perfectly usable as standard iron sights. The P7 series has developed an almost legendary status among enthusiasts due to its exceptional build quality, unique operating system, and superb practical accuracy. With its desirable 1999 production date, uncommon nickel finish, American-style ambidextrous magazine release, and classic squeeze-cocking design, this P7M8 represents an intriguing variation of one of HK’s most iconic handguns.
