Our Assessment: The Colt Single Action Army is one of the most iconic American revolvers, first introduced in 1873 and forever associated with frontier service, U.S. military use, lawmen, ranchers, and generations of sporting shooters. Colt’s 2nd Generation production, made from the mid-1950s into the 1970s, is especially desirable among collectors because it retained traditional SAA styling and workmanship while bridging the gap between prewar production and later modern manufacture. This 1966 example, documented by Colt letter and chambered in .357 Magnum, is C&R eligible and pairs the classic 4 3/4″ barrel configuration with a desirable nickel finish and one-piece ivory grip.
