Our Assessment: This replica English Grice-style blunderbuss is a modern flintlock muzzleloading arm with a bore measuring approximately 1″, giving it the imposing presentation associated with traditional coach, naval, and defensive blunderbuss designs. It features a 19 1/2″ barrel, arsenal-bright finish, flintlock ignition, walnut stock, brass buttplate, and two ramrod pipes. There is no provision for iron sights, which is typical for this style of close-range smoothbore arm. The English-style lock and classic blunderbuss profile give it strong historical display appeal while still retaining functional black powder capability.

Condition is Excellent overall, with the blunderbuss retaining about 97% of its original finish. The metal shows only light scratches and polish or brush marks, while the screw heads remain sharp and the markings are clear. The one-piece smooth walnut stock is also in Excellent condition, showing scattered scratches and light compression dents but no chips or cracks. Overall, the piece presents very well, with attractive traditional styling and only minor cosmetic handling wear.

The bore is bright with no erosion and only light superficial fouling and corrosion, rating 9/10 in this writer’s opinion. Mechanically, the blunderbuss is functional, with the hammer holding at both full and half cock, the flint sparking, and the touch hole clear. Unlike many listings, this example was fired, which supports confidence in its basic functional condition, though a full cleaning and inspection are still advisable with any used black powder arm. Overall, this is a clean and attractive replica English-style flintlock blunderbuss with excellent presentation, strong bore condition, and functional mechanics, suitable for display, collection, or black powder use within appropriate safety practices.
