Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 1894 Carbine produced in the years immediately following World War II occupies a particularly interesting position in the model’s long production history — these are the last of the pre-64 era carbines built before cost-reduction measures altered the rifle’s construction, retaining the hand-fitting, machined parts, and production standards that Winchester collectors have come to regard as the benchmark of the model’s quality. The flat band configuration is a specific and sought-after variation that Winchester collectors track with precision, produced during a transitional window in postwar production that makes correct examples a genuine find. Chambered in .30-30 WCF and wearing the classic straight-grip carbine stock, this 1948 example represents the working Model 94 in its most authentic and historically grounded form — a ranch and hunting rifle built in New Haven at a moment when American manufacturing confidence was at its postwar peak.

This carbine presents honestly at approximately 90% finish with operational wear and some thinning with light intermittent oxidation. The bore remains bright with sharp rifling, the flat band and stocks are intact without chips or cracks, and the action functions correctly with both half-cock and lever safeties operational. For the Winchester collector who values a correct period configuration over cosmetic polish, or the shooter who wants a genuine pre-64 era .30-30 carbine with the flat band distinction, this 1948 94 Carbine is the real article.
