Sights/ Optics: The front sight is a square post that acts as an attachment for a socket bayonet. There is no provision for a rear sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition/ Grip: The stock is one piece smooth walnut, capped forend, four ramrod pipes, bulge at the tailpipe, straight grip, straight comb, and smooth brass buttplate. The LOP is 14″ from trigger to buttplate. The stock has been refinished. There are scratches and compression dents throughout. There are repaired cracks below the lock. Overall this stock is in Fair to Good condition due to the repaired crack.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion. There is some storage dust.
Overall Condition: This musket retains about 95% of its finish. There are scuffs and scratches throughout. Some of the metal has been buffed and cleaned. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall this musket is in Good condition with the largest detractor being the stock repair.
Mechanics: This musket is in functional condition. The flint sparks. The hammer holds full and half cock. The touch hole is clear. We did not fire this gun. As with all used guns a full cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.

Our Assessment: This Miroku 1769 Short Land Pattern Brown Bess is a well-made reproduction of the classic British flintlock musket, manufactured circa the 1970s–1980s. Chambered as a .75 caliber smoothbore muzzleloader, it features a 42″ barrel in arsenal bright finish, flintlock ignition, “Tower”-marked lock plate, and a square front sight that also serves as the bayonet lug. The one-piece walnut stock, brass furniture, four ramrod pipes, straight grip, straight comb, and smooth brass buttplate give it the correct traditional military profile, making it appealing to black powder enthusiasts, historical reenactors, and collectors of military-style muzzleloaders.
Condition is good overall, with the stock repair being the primary limitation. The musket retains approximately 95% of its finish, with scuffs and scratches throughout and some metal surfaces having been buffed and cleaned. The markings remain clear, the screw heads are sharp, and the bore is bright with no erosion, showing only some storage dust. The refinished walnut stock is in Fair to Good condition, showing scratches and compression dents throughout, along with repaired cracks below the lock. While the repair detracts from condition and collector value, the musket still presents well overall.
Mechanically, this Brown Bess is reported to be functional: the flint sparks, the hammer holds at both full and half cock, and the touch hole is clear. It has not been fired, and as with any used muzzleloader, especially one with repaired wood near the lock area, it should be thoroughly cleaned and inspected before any live-fire use. Overall, this Miroku Brown Bess is a solid and attractive reproduction musket with good bore condition, functional lockwork, clear markings, and an included sling, best suited for display, reenactment, black powder collection, or careful use after proper inspection.
