Markings: The left shoulder of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER ®”, “Model 1873 – – Caliber .44-40 Win. ONLY”. There are “WP” Winchester proof marks on the left shoulder of the barrel and the top of the receiver. The right shoulder of the barrel is marked “Made by Miroku – Japan – – Imported by BACO, Inc.-Morgan, Utah / Winchester is a registered trademark of Olin Corporation”. The bottom of the receiver is marked with the serial number “00133ZW73L”. The upper tang is marked “WINCHESTER ®” / MODEL 1873”.
Barrel Length: 24″ Octagonal
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass beaded blade dovetailed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a semi-buckhorn U-notch elevator sight dovetailed to the rear of the barrel. The tang is drilled, tapped, and filled for a tang sight (none present).
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two piece smooth walnut with a straight grip, straight comb, capped forend, and a crescent steel buttplate. The LOP measures about 12 7/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There is little to no handling wear. There are no chips or cracks. The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. There is light fouling. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its original finish.The balance of the finish is strong and complete throughout. There is faint handling and operational wear. The case color is vibrant.The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this gun. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 1873 is one of the most iconic American lever action designs, famously known as “The Gun That Won the West.” Originally introduced in the 1870s, the Model 1873 helped establish Winchester’s reputation for reliable repeating rifles and remains highly desirable among collectors and shooters today. This modern Winchester example was manufactured by Miroku in Japan and imported by BACO, combining the classic lines of the original 1873 with modern fit, finish, and manufacturing quality. Chambered in .44-40 Winchester and fitted with a 24” octagonal barrel, full-length magazine tube, traditional open sights, and crescent steel buttplate, this rifle offers a faithful and attractive configuration for the collector, cowboy action shooter, or lever action enthusiast.
This rifle is in Excellent overall condition, retaining about 99% of its original blued and case colored finish with only faint handling and operational wear. The case colors remain vibrant, the markings are clear, and the screw heads are sharp. The smooth walnut stocks show little to no handling wear, with no chips or cracks, and rate in Excellent condition. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, no erosion, and only light fouling, rating 9/10 in this writer’s opinion. The action functions correctly, and while we did not fire this rifle, it presents as a very clean modern Winchester 1873 in one of the classic chamberings associated with the model.
