Markings: The barrel is marked “C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7 HBAR”. The left side of the receiver is marked with the Colt and Colt Rampant Logo, “AR-15 A2 / HBAR SPORTER / CAL .223 . SER. SP 220426”, “COLT’S FIREARMS DIVISION / COLT INDUSTRIES / HARTFORD, CONN. / U.S.A.”, “SAFE FIRE”. The Bolt Carrier is marked “C” on the left side and the neck of the bolt head is marked “MPC”. The right side of the gas block has a Bell Forge Mark.
Barrel Length: 20”. 21.25” with fixed A2 Flash Hider.
Sights / Optics: The front sight is an A2 front post with elevation adjustment and the rear sight is an adjustable L-type flip aperture integrated to the carry handle. The carry handle is installed with a Colt Scope Ring Base fitted with a Bausch & Lomb 1.5x-6x Rifle Scope with Duplex Crosshair reticle. The sight picture is clear. The scope has light handling wear. The scope rates in Very Good condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The pistol grip is an A2 style checkered polymer grip. The buttstock is an A2 style fixed stock with sling ring and checkered buttplate with trap door for storage compartment. The handguard is a rifle length A2 handguard with heat shields. The LOP measures 13 5/8” from the front of the trigger to the rear of the buttplate. There is light discoloration on the buttstock. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering on the grip is crisp with some light wear on the peaks. The buttstock and handguard have some light scratches and drag lines. Overall the stock rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its finish. The balance of the finish shows light scratches and scuffs on the receivers. There is finish loss and brass buildup on the case deflector. The markings are clear. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly tooled with strong slots. Overall this rifle rates in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with its attached scope as mentioned above and an attached leather Colt branded sling in Very Good condition.
Our Assessment: The more rare of the Colt Rifles: Pre-Ban Colt AR-15A2 Sporter HBAR Model R6600 Rifle. The 6600 was only manufactured from 1986 to early 1989. These pre-89 rifles are highly sought after by collectors, as it is as close as one can get to owning an M16A2. There is no sear block. The Colt model R6600 HBar, Colt’s heavy-barreled version of the standard AR-15, is capable of increased accuracy over their regular counterparts. The R6600 H-Bars are incredibly accurate due to their 20″ heavy barrels. This 6600 HBAR Sporter is a true treasure. Made for the civilian market after the SP1 series of AR’s this model incorporated the new 20″ heavy barrel (HBAR) with 1/7 twist for use with the heavier green tip 62gr ammo. A2 sights, A2 flash hider, and brass deflector were also added to this model. This rifle may not come in its original green label box but this is a true Green Label Colt. There is no sear block and this does have a bayonet lug, with heavy “C” marked bolt carrier and “MPC” bolt head. If you want a true jewel and the ultimate safe queen then this is the rifle for you! -L.S.
