Markings: The left side of the trunnion is marked “BE 34 1039”. The left side of the receiver “arsenal”, “MODEL SA93 / 7.62X39”, and “SENTINEL ARMS / DETROIT MICH / MADE IN BULGARIA”. The bolt carrier and bolt are marked “1039”.

Barrel Length: 16.25”.  

Sights / Optics:  The front sight is an open adjustable post sight with protective wings. The rear sight is an adjustable leaf sight.  

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a 3 piece wood with a thumb hole stock and vented forend. There is little to no wear. There are a few light scratches. There are no chips or cracks. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original 

Bore Condition:  The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10 out of 10. 

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows little to no wear. There are a few light scratches. The screw heads are sharp and the rivets are unmarred. The markings are crisp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent Condition. 

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Two 30rd magazines and two 10rd magazines. This rifle comes with a cleaning kit, canvas sling, oiler, cleaning rod, paperwork, and factory box.  

Our Assessment: The Bulgarian Arsenal SA-93 is a desirable commercial AK-pattern rifle imported in the early 1990s, prior to the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban, and is well regarded for its Bulgarian manufacture, milled receiver construction, and classic 7.62x39mm chambering. These rifles were brought in during a transitional period for AK imports and were commonly configured with thumbhole stocks to comply with import restrictions of the era. This example retains its original black finish, 16.25” barrel, adjustable post front sight, adjustable leaf rear sight, and 3-piece wood furniture set with thumbhole buttstock and vented forend.

This SA-93 is in Excellent condition overall, retaining about 98% of its metal finish with little wear beyond a few light scratches. The wood furniture also rates in Excellent condition, showing only minor handling marks with no chips or cracks. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 10 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The action functions correctly, the markings are crisp, the screw heads are sharp, and the rivets are unmarred.
