Action Type: Double Action/Single Action Semi-Auto with decocker and push button magazine release, fed by detachable magazine. Left hand eject.  

Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “101020 / WALTHER / P5”. The left side of the frame is marked “101020”. The right side of the slide is marked “INTERARMS ALEXANDRIA/VA.”. The right side of the frame “KC”. The front of the barrel “WALTHER 9mmx19 01020”

Barrel Length: 3.5”. 

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a white dotted blade machined into the slide. The rear sight is a windage adjustable square notch sight with a white aiming reference dovetailed to the slide. The top of the slide is serrated. 

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are a two piece checkered polymer screw set to the frame. The front strap is serrated and the rear checkered. The grips show no notable marks or marrs. There are no chips or cracks. Overall the grips are in  about Excellent condition.       

Type of Finish: Blued. 

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. There is stubborn fouling in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9 out of 10.  

Overall Condition: This pistol retains 99% of its original finish. The balance of the finish shows little to no wear. There are a few light scratches throughout. The markings are clear and the screw heads are sharp. Overall the pistol is in about Excellent condition. 

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements. 

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol includes two magazines in Excellent condition and owners manual. 

Our Assessment: The German-made Carl Walther P5 is one of the most refined service pistols produced during the late Cold War era. Developed as an evolution of the wartime P38 design, the P5 incorporated a modernized locking system, improved safety features, and exceptional ergonomics. Unlike many contemporary service pistols, the P5 utilizes a distinctive left-side ejection system and a robust double-action/single-action operating mechanism that earned a reputation for reliability and accuracy. Chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum, the P5 remains highly regarded among collectors and shooters as one of Walther’s finest postwar designs.

This 1992-produced example presents in Excellent overall condition and retains matching serial numbers on the slide, frame, and barrel. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, no visible erosion, and only minor fouling present, earning an excellent 9/10 rating. The polymer grip panels remain in excellent condition with virtually no notable wear, and the pistol retains approximately 99% of its original blued finish with only a few light handling marks visible. The action functions correctly, and the pistol includes two magazines and the owner’s manual. With its desirable German manufacture, Interarms import marking, matching serialized components, and outstanding condition, this Walther P5 represents an exceptional example of one of the most respected service pistols of the modern era.
