Markings: The left side of the frame is marked “6413c”. The left side of the slide is marked P.38 6413c ac / 44 “. The right side of the slide is marked with two 359 Waffenamts and a chicken with a spooky pinwheel. The locking lug is marked “413 / C”. The front of the barrel extension is marked “6413 / C”. Both grip panels are marked “P / 1528” on the inside. There are various factory proofs throughout.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed to the barrel. The rear sight is a U-notch sight dovetailed to the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece serrated bakelite panels with a cut for a lanyard loop. There is light wear on the panels. There are scratches on the panels. There is a chip on the right grip panel at the bottom and the top of the rear. There are no cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Fair – Good condition.
Magazine Quantity and Condition: This pistol comes with one 8rd magazine in Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. There is light fouling in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 85% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows handling and storage wear. There are scratches and thinning throughout. The front strap has turned to a patina. There is light thinning on the leading edges. There is freckling on the frame. There is surface rust forming on the front of the trigger guard. There is light corrosion pitting on the top of the slide. The screw head is sharp. The pins are unmarred and the markings are clear and legible. Overall, this pistol rates in about Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this pistol. As with all used firearms, a cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance needs. The safety also doubles as a decocker.

Our Assessment: The German Walther P38 is one of the most significant military pistols of the Second World War and helped pioneer the double-action service pistol concept that would influence handgun development for generations. Produced by Carl Walther under the wartime manufacturer code “ac”, these pistols were issued extensively to German military forces throughout the war. Chambered in 9mm Luger, the P38 combined a robust locking-block action, double-action/single-action trigger system, and practical combat sights into a reliable and innovative sidearm. Wartime Walther-produced examples remain highly sought after by collectors, particularly those retaining matching serialized components and original military acceptance markings.
This 1944-produced example presents in Good overall condition and retains matching serial numbers on the frame, slide, locking block, and barrel extension. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, no visible erosion, and only light fouling present, earning an excellent 9/10 rating. The original Bakelite grip panels show service wear and have chips on the right panel, but remain free from cracks. The pistol retains approximately 85% of its original finish with expected wartime wear, including thinning on the front strap and leading edges, scattered scratches, freckling on the frame, and areas of light corrosion. Included is one magazine, making this a solid representative example of a wartime Walther service pistol.
