Optics: There is a Vortex SPARC AR red dot mounted atop the receiver. The dot lights up, glass is clear, and the red dot rates in Very Good condition.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is a Magpul MOE pistol grip missing its bottom grip plug. The stock is a collapsible Magpul MOE SL carbine stock. The charging handle was made by Strike Industries and features an extended latch. The forend is an MLOK rail system with two small sections of picatinny. The LOP is adjustable between 11″ and 14.25″ from the face of the trigger to the rear of the butt. There are light handling and operational marks present. There are no chips or cracks. The furniture is in Very Good condition.
Type of Finish: Matte black lower, spray painted black and brown upper
Finish Originality: Nonoriginal
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its finish. The finish shows scattered scuffs and scratches from handling and operation. The takedown pins are undamaged and fully functional. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The last round bolt holdback does not function with the magazine insert. The action functions correctly. We did not shoot this firearm. As with all used firearms we expect many will want to clean the firearm depending on their standards.

Our Assessment: This Ruger AR-556 was manufactured in 2020 and is configured as a 16 inch semi-automatic rifle chambered in .22 TCM. Produced by Ruger, the AR-556 platform follows standard direct impingement AR architecture while being adapted for the high-velocity .22 TCM cartridge. The lower remains matte black while the upper has been spray painted black and brown.
Chambered in .22 TCM with a 16 inch barrel, this rifle delivers the flat trajectory and high velocity characteristics associated with the cartridge. A Vortex SPARC red dot from Vortex Optics is mounted for rapid target acquisition. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5 out of 10, indicating excellent internal condition. The action functions correctly. It should be noted that the last round bolt holdback does not function with the magazine insert.
This rifle retains approximately 95 percent of its finish overall, accounting for the spray painted upper. The furniture rates in Very Good condition with typical handling wear. Included is a Magpul PMAG fitted with a 30 round .22 TCM insert. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition and stands as a unique AR-556 configured in the distinctive .22 TCM chambering.
