Our Assessment: The Canadian Inglis No.2 Mk.1* Hi-Power is one of the most historically significant variants of the legendary Browning Hi-Power pistol. Produced by John Inglis & Company in Toronto during World War II, these pistols were manufactured to support Allied military requirements at a time when demand for reliable service sidearms was at its highest. Based on the proven Browning-Saive design, the Inglis Hi-Power combined excellent ergonomics, reliability, and a high-capacity magazine, making it one of the most influential military handguns of the 20th century. The No.2 Mk.1* configuration was intended primarily for Commonwealth service and omitted the tangent rear sight and shoulder stock provisions found on some earlier contract pistols. This example retains approximately 90% of its original black enamel finish with scattered handling marks, chips, and wear consistent with military service. The matching numbered barrel, slide, and frame significantly enhance its collector appeal. The grip panels remain in good plus condition with honest service wear and no structural damage. The pistol retains its military magazine disconnect and lanyard loop, features characteristic of its original service configuration.

Altogether, this Inglis No.2 Mk.1* represents an authentic wartime military Hi-Power produced during one of the most important periods of Allied arms production. Its matching numbered major components, Canadian wartime manufacture, and original military configuration make it a desirable example for collectors of World War II military sidearms. The Inglis Hi-Power remains one of the most recognizable and historically important military pistols ever produced and continues to occupy an important place in military firearms collecting. -R.E.
