Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope. There is a Leupold VX3 Air Rifle 6.5-20x40mm installed on this rifle. We cannot guarantee optics. 

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one piece fiberglass, semi pistol grip, cheekpiece, straight comb, and rubber recoil pad. The stock has been glass bedded. There is a one piece aluminum bedding block under the action. The bottom metal is aftermarket. The LOP is 13 3/4″ from trigger to recoil pad. The sling studs are missing but the holes are there. There is some minor handling wear. There are a few scratches. There are no chips or cracks. There is a pair of velcro dots on the left side of the stock. Overall this stock is in Very good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. There is some fouling. In this writer’s opinion this bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its current finish. There is some handling and operational wear. There are a few minor scratches. The screw heads are lightly tooled but serviceable. The markings are clear. Overall this rifle is in Very Good condition.  

Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. The rifle is equipped with a Timney aftermarket trigger. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment:  This custom Winchester Model 70 in 7×57 Mauser is a modernized bolt-action hunting rifle built on a 2013 Winchester Model 70 action. While the listing title references a 22″ barrel, the specifications describe a 24″ unknown aftermarket barrel, so the barrel length should be confirmed by measurement. The rifle has been configured as a scoped sporting rifle with no iron sight provisions, a drilled and tapped receiver, and a Leupold VX-3 Air Rifle 6.5-20x40mm scope installed, though the optic is not guaranteed. The 7×57 Mauser chambering gives it classic sporting appeal, while the fiberglass stock, glass bedding, aluminum bedding block, aftermarket bottom metal, and Timney aftermarket trigger all point to a purpose-built custom hunting or precision-oriented field rifle rather than a factory-original collector example.

Condition is very good overall. The rifle retains approximately 97% of its current matte black refinished metal finish, with only minor handling and operational wear, a few small scratches, and lightly tooled but serviceable screw heads. The markings remain clear, and the action and safety are reported to function correctly. The bore is a strong feature, rated 9.5/10 in the writer’s opinion, with a bright interior, sharp rifling, no erosion, and only some fouling present. The fiberglass stock is also in Very Good condition, showing minor handling wear and a few scratches with no chips or cracks, though the sling studs are missing and the left side of the stock has a pair of Velcro dots.

Overall, this Winchester Model 70 is best viewed as a customized shooter-grade hunting rifle with useful upgrades and strong practical appeal. Its 7×57 Mauser chambering, excellent bore, Timney trigger, glass-bedded fiberglass stock, aluminum bedding block, and included Leupold scope all support its desirability as a field or range rifle. The refinished metal, aftermarket barrel, aftermarket bottom metal, missing sling studs, and non-guaranteed optic limit collector value, but those same modifications may enhance its utility for a buyer seeking a ready-configured custom hunting rifle.
