Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 94 Carbine is a desirable Pre-64, C&R-eligible example manufactured in 1952 and chambered in the classic .30-30 Winchester cartridge. Its 20″ barrel, full-length tubular magazine, smooth walnut stocks, banded forend, straight grip, straight comb, and checkered steel buttplate give it the traditional mid-century Winchester carbine profile. The rifle retains its standard barrel-mounted beaded front sight and fine-adjustable U-notch rear sight, while the left side of the receiver is drilled, tapped, and filled for a receiver sight, preserving practical period-style sighting options.
Condition is Very Good overall, with the rifle retaining about 95% of its original blue finish. The metal shows light scratching, scattered corrosion staining, handling wear, and operational wear, but the markings remain clear and the screw heads are sharp. The stocks have been sanded and refinished, with light sanding marks visible beneath the finish and general handling wear throughout. While the refinish slightly reduces collector originality, the wood presents well and rates Very Good for a refinished stock.
The bore is a major strength, remaining bright with sharp rifling, no erosion, and only light fouling, rating 9.5/10 in this writer’s opinion. Mechanically, the action functions correctly, and the rifle retains its half-cock safety and lever safety, though it has not been test fired. Overall, this is a clean and attractive 1952 Pre-64 Winchester Model 94 Carbine in .30-30 Win, offering strong remaining original metal finish, excellent bore condition, classic handling, and good shooter appeal, with the refinished stocks being the primary factor tempering its collector-grade originality.
