Our Assessment: This Pedersoli 1777 Corrigé An IX Musket is a modern reproduction of a classic French military flintlock musket, manufactured in 2003 and chambered in .69 caliber. It features a long 44 11/16″ barrel, three-band walnut stock, arsenal-bright finish, steel buttplate, and front sight blade integral to the front barrel band, with no rear sight as appropriate for this style of military smoothbore. The flintlock ignition system, full-length military stock, and bright-finished furniture give it strong late-18th to early-19th century martial character, while Pedersoli manufacture adds appeal for shooters and collectors seeking a quality reproduction.

Condition is Excellent overall, with the musket retaining about 95% of its original arsenal-bright finish. The metal shows light scratches and scattered corrosion freckles, most notably on the trigger guard, but the markings remain clear and the screw heads are sharp. The one-piece smooth walnut stock is in Very Good to Excellent condition, showing light handling wear with scattered light scratches and compression dents, but no chips or cracks. Overall, the musket presents as a well-kept reproduction with only minor handling and storage wear.

The bore is bright with no erosion and only light superficial corrosion near the muzzle, rating 9/10 in this writer’s opinion. Mechanically, the musket is functional, with the hammer holding at both full and half cock, the flint sparking, and the firing channel clear, though it has not been test fired. As with any used black powder arm, a thorough cleaning and inspection are advisable before use. Overall, this is a clean and attractive Pedersoli 1777 Corrigé An IX flintlock musket with strong bore condition, sound mechanics, and excellent presentation, making it well suited for historical display, reenactment use, or black powder shooting.
