Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked, “SMITH & WESSON”. The right side of the barrel is marked ” .22 LONG RIFLE CTG.” The right side of the frame is marked with the 4-line Marcas Registradas. The left side of the frame is marked with the S&W trademark logo. The butt of the grip frame has the serial number. The inside of the crane cut is marked with the serial number and “MOD 17-7”. The crane arm and each side of the frame butt are marked with inspector marks.
Barrel Length: 6” Pinned, Full rib, Full underlug
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a patridge blade fixed to a ramp integral to the barrel rib. The rear sight is a flat top, square notched leaf in a base that is micrometer click adjustable for windage and elevation. The rib and tank of the rear sight are serrated for glare reduction. The top strap and each side of the rib are matte finished for glare reduction as well. The front sight has been hand painted white.
Stock Configuration & Condition: These stocks are two piece smooth S&W combat grips with silver S&W medallions inlaid at the top, and a speedloader cut. There are minor scratches and scuffs. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is minor fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are scratches on the frame and barrel. There is handling and finish thinning along the frame on both sides. There is minor finish wear along the leading edge of the cylinder, as well as a turn line. The screw heads are sharp, with use. The markings are clear and legible. Overall, this revolver is in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder locks up with minimal play on each chamber when the trigger is depressed. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Smith & Wesson Model 17-7 K-22 Masterpiece is a handsome 1990s production rimfire K-frame, continuing one of S&W’s most respected target revolver lines. The K-22 Masterpiece earned its reputation by giving shooters the balance, sight radius, and trigger feel of a centerfire K-frame in an economical and low-recoil .22 LR package, making it a favorite for target practice, small-game use, and serious revolver training. This example features a 6″ full-rib, full-underlug barrel, micrometer-click adjustable rear sight, Patridge front sight hand painted white, recessed 6-shot cylinder, blued finish, case-colored trigger and hammer, and smooth S&W combat stocks with silver medallions and a speedloader cut.
This revolver rates in about Fine overall condition, retaining approximately 98% of its original metal finish with scratches on the frame and barrel, handling wear and finish thinning along both sides of the frame, minor leading-edge cylinder wear, and a cylinder turn line. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, minor fouling, and no erosion, rating 9/10 in this writer’s opinion. The smooth combat stocks are Excellent, showing only minor scratches and scuffs with no chips or cracks. Mechanically, the action functions correctly, and the cylinder locks with minimal play on each chamber when the trigger is depressed. With its strong bore, clean condition, adjustable sights, full-underlug barrel profile, and classic K-22 lineage, this Model 17-7 should appeal to Smith & Wesson collectors, rimfire revolver enthusiasts, and shooters looking for a quality .22 LR target revolver with traditional S&W handling.
