Sights / Optics: The front sight is a low profile blade with a serrated face staked into the slide. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed into the slide.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece checkered synthetic with the Rampant Colt in the center. There is light handling wear on the grips with a few small dings and light scratches. There are no chips or cracks. The grips are in Very Good Condition.

Type of Finish: Blued

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is lightly worn with stubborn fouling present. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This firearm retains about 90% of its metal finish. The firearm shows light to moderate operational and handling wear. There is edge wear and light surface scratches throughout. There is a very faint “Idiot Scratch” on the frame. The screw heads are unmarred and remain turnable. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this firearm is in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Post War Colt Government Model 1911 was manufactured in 1951 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic pistol. Produced by Colt during the early post-World War II commercial resurgence, this pistol reflects Colt’s return to civilian production after wartime military contracts. Early 1950s Government Models are noted for their polished blue finishes and traditional pre-Series 70 internal configuration.

Chambered in .45 Auto with a 5 inch barrel, this pistol maintains the classic Government Model dimensions that defined the 1911 platform. The .45 ACP cartridge remained the benchmark American service and sporting caliber during this era. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9 out of 10, indicating strong internal condition. The action functions correctly.

This firearm retains approximately 90 percent of its metal finish, presenting a clean example with moderate handling wear consistent with age. The grips rate in Very Good condition with light visible use. Overall, this firearm is in Very Good condition and stands as a solid example of a 1951 Colt Government Model from the post-war commercial production period.
