Our Assessment: The Century Arms C93 Sporter is a semi-automatic rifle patterned after the HK93, itself derived from the G3 platform developed by Heckler and Koch. At the core of this design is the roller-delayed blowback system, a mechanically distinct action that uses rollers to delay bolt movement, allowing safe operation without the need for a gas system. Chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO, a cartridge introduced in the mid-20th century and widely adopted for its flat trajectory and controllable recoil, the C93 offers a familiar and effective configuration rooted in proven military design. The 16 inch barrel with flash hider and classic HK-style controls maintain the lineage of this platform while adapting it for modern sporting use. This example presents in very good to excellent overall condition, retaining approximately 98 percent of its original parkerized finish with light scratches and handling marks throughout. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and only minor fouling present, supporting strong performance potential. The black polymer furniture shows light to moderate wear, including scratches, pressure dents, and a few gouges, while remaining structurally sound. Features such as the bipod-cut handguard, integrated sling attachment, folding carry handle, and 13.75 inch length of pull contribute to a practical and well-configured rifle. The hooded front sight and four-position rotating diopter rear drum provide a precise and repeatable sight picture consistent with the platform’s intended design.
This rifle is being offered as a project or gunsmith special due to a mechanical issue, as the bolt head and carrier are in contact and the action does not currently function correctly. While the rifle retains strong cosmetic condition and includes four 40-round magazines, it will require evaluation and correction by a competent gunsmith prior to use. -R.E.
