Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 1910 Self-Loading rifle was manufactured in 1929 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic firearm. Produced by Winchester, the Model 1910 was the most powerful of Winchester’s early self-loading rifle series, following the Models 1903, 1905, and 1907. Designed for sporting and law enforcement use during the early 20th century, the 1910 represented one of the first commercially successful semi-automatic centerfire rifles in America.

Chambered in .401 Self-Loading with a 20 inch barrel, this rifle fires the proprietary .401 SL cartridge, developed to provide substantial stopping power in a semi-automatic platform. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 8 out of 10, indicating solid internal condition with strong rifling. The action functions correctly. Two 4 round magazines are included.

This rifle retains approximately 70 percent of its metal finish, showing honest wear consistent with age and use. The furniture rates in Good condition with visible but typical handling marks. Overall, this rifle rates in Good condition and stands as a desirable example of a late-production Winchester Model 1910 SL chambered in the distinctive .401 Self-Loading cartridge.
