Our Assessment: The IMI Timber Wolf is a unique and relatively scarce pump action rifle produced by Israel Military Industries and imported by Action Arms in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Designed as a companion to revolver cartridges, the Timber Wolf combines traditional tubular magazine feeding with a smooth pump action system, offering a fast cycling alternative to lever action rifles. Chambered in .357 Magnum, a cartridge introduced in 1935 and widely known for its versatility, the rifle also accommodates .38 Special, allowing for a broad range of shooting applications. The Timber Wolf stands apart for its distinctive design and limited production, making it an uncommon example of modern Israeli sporting rifle development. This example retains approximately 99 percent of its original blued finish, with only faint handling marks visible and a light plum patina developing on the frame. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and rates 9.75 out of 10, indicating excellent internal condition. The walnut stock set remains in Excellent condition, showing minimal wear with no chips or cracks, and retains a clean appearance throughout. Markings are clear and well defined, with sharp screw heads and clean pins, and the action functions correctly, reflecting careful use and preservation.
The Timber Wolf’s pump action design provides a smooth and intuitive manual of arms, while its tubular magazine and compact 18.5 inch barrel contribute to balanced handling. Its chambering in .357 Magnum enhances its practicality, allowing the use of both magnum and lighter loads. This example stands as a well preserved and desirable representation of an uncommon rifle, combining strong condition, distinctive design, and reliable performance in a platform that remains unique among modern sporting firearms. -R.E.
