Our Assessment: The Walther PPK, introduced in 1931, represents one of the most influential compact semi automatic pistol designs of the early twentieth century, developed as a more concealable variant of the Walther PP for police and civilian use. Manufactured in Thuringia during the prewar period, examples like this 1932 pistol reflect the early production quality and engineering that established Walther’s reputation worldwide. The fixed barrel blowback system, double action trigger, and slide mounted decocking safety offered a combination of safety, simplicity, and accuracy that set the standard for compact defensive pistols. Chambered in 7.65mm Browning, known in the United States as .32 ACP and introduced in 1899, the platform delivers mild recoil and practical performance in a streamlined, easily carried format that saw widespread adoption across Europe in the interwar years.
This example retains about 85 percent of its original blued finish, showing light handling and operational wear with thinning at the leading edges, scattered light oxidation, and minor edge wear consistent with its age. The markings remain clear and the screw head is sharp. The marbled brown Walther grip panels with banner logos are in Very Good condition, with sharp checkering and only light wear on the smooth borders. The bore is bright with defined rifling and light fouling present, rating 8.5 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The action functions correctly, with a crisp single action trigger break, and the pistol includes one 8 round magazine.
