Our Assessment: The Browning B-92 is a finely made reproduction of the Winchester Model 1892, produced by Miroku in Japan and imported by Browning during the late 20th century. Built to a high standard of fit and finish, these rifles are widely regarded as some of the best modern lever action reproductions available. The Model 1892 design, originally developed by John Moses Browning, is known for its compact action and strength, making it particularly well suited for pistol caliber cartridges. Chambered in .44 Remington Magnum, a cartridge introduced in 1955, the rifle also accommodates .44 Special, offering a versatile range of performance options. This 1980 example retains approximately 99 percent of its original blued finish, with only faint handling marks and light operational wear visible. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and rates 9.5 out of 10, showing light fouling. The walnut stock set remains in Very Good condition, showing minor scratches, pressure dents, and small chips but no structural damage. Markings are clear and well defined, with sharp screw heads and proper mechanical function. The rifle includes its original box, adding to its overall completeness and presentation.

The B-92’s 20 inch barrel provides balanced handling and strong ballistic performance for the .44 Magnum cartridge, while the tubular magazine and traditional semi-buckhorn sight maintain its classic configuration. The smooth lever action and solid construction contribute to its reputation for reliability and precision. This example stands as a well preserved and desirable representation of Browning’s collaboration with Miroku, combining excellent condition, original packaging, and the timeless appeal of a classic lever action rifle design. -R.E.
