Barrel Length: 24″

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded beaded blade pinned to a serrated ramp, screwed to the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable U-notch sight on a ramp, screwed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is mounted with a Bushnell 3-9x scope, with a duplex reticle. The glass in the scope is clear. The scope shows light wear, with a few light scratches and dings scattered throughout the scope’s finish. Overall, the scope rates in Good condition. The scope is mounted directly to the receiver’s dovetail by 1″ rings.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered Turkish walnut Bavarian style stock, with a semi-pistol grip, straight comb with cheekpiece, vented black rubber CZ buttpad, a checkered forend, and a sling stud on the bottom of the forend and a sling ring in the belly of the buttstock. The LOP measures 13 3/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock shows light to moderate wear, with scattered scratches, dings, and scuffs throughout, with the most notable imperfection being a ding in the stock in between the trigger guard and bolt handle, along with a few dings on the leading edge of the cheekpiece. The stock’s finish is largely intact. The checkering is well defined. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. There are no structurally compromising chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Good condition.

Type of Finish: Blued

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is some minor fouling present. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 96% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear, with minor freckling of oxidation starting to form on the left side of the front sight hood, along with light operational wear on the bolt and friction surfaces of the action. There are light and minor scratches and imperfections throughout all of the metal surfaces. The bluing is largely intact, otherwise. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. The set trigger has a light, crisp, and clean break. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the scope as mentioned above.

Our Assessment: The CZ 550 Lux represents one of the last widely available traditional controlled-round-feed sporting rifles built in the classic European style. Chambered here in 7×57 Mauser, a cartridge introduced in 1892 and made famous through its military service and sporting use across Europe, Africa, and the Americas, this combination carries deep historical credibility. The 7×57 earned a reputation for mild recoil, excellent sectional density, and decisive field performance, becoming a favorite of hunters such as W.D.M. Bell. The 550 Lux blends that heritage with a Mauser-pattern action, integral dovetail for rings, iron sights, and a Bavarian-style walnut stock that reflects Continental hunting tradition.

This 2000 production rifle remains in Good overall condition, retaining approximately 96 percent of its original blued finish with light operational wear on the bolt and minor freckling beginning on the front sight hood. The 24 inch barrel shows a bright bore with sharp rifling that rates 9.5 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The Turkish walnut Bavarian stock exhibits honest field wear with scattered dings and scuffs, most notably near the bolt handle and along the cheekpiece, yet remains structurally sound and tight to the action. The set trigger breaks light and crisp, and the safety functions properly. The included Bushnell 3-9x scope shows clear glass and complements the rifle for practical field use.
